James Rochead

(Archdiocese of Glasgow) Born in Leith, 10th October 1857, the son of Charles Rochead and Margaret Cullen; received subdiaconate from Bp. Serra of Daulia (Perth, Australia) in college church, 20th November 1881; ordained a priest, bishop’s private chapel, Palencia, 25th March 1882, and left for Scotland, 11th April 1882; spent a few years in Salford and on Pacific coast of U.S.A., c. 1890, but returned to Scotland, 1894; died in Glasgow, 13th March 1903. Report of the ordination of James Rochead in the Scottish Catholic Directory of 1883.

The Rev. James Rochead was born at Leith on 10th October, 1857; entered Blairs College on 28th July, 1871; and was sent to Valladolid in August, 1875. He received the Tonsure and Minor Orders on the 19th, and the Subdiaconate on the 20th, November, 1881, from Mgr. Serra, Bishop of Daulia, in the College Chapel; and was ordained Deacon on the 4th, and Priest on the 25th, March, 1882, by Mgr. Lozano y Terreira, Bishop of Palencia, in the Chapel of his Episcopal Palace. On his return to Scotland he was named junior assistant at Maryhill.
