(Diocese of Galloway) Born in Salford, Lancashire, 16th October 1854, the son of Stuart Laverty and Alice Carlin; received subdiaconate from Bp. Serra of Daulia (Perth, Australia) in college church, 20th November 1881; ordained a priest, bishop’s private chapel, Palencia, 25th March 1882, and left for Scotland, 9th April, 1882; worked in Diocese of Galloway until 1890. Report of the ordination of Henry Stuart Laverty in the Scottish Catholic Directory of 1883.

The Rev. Henry Stuart Laverty was born in Salford on 16th October, 1854; entered Blairs College on 7th September, 1871; and was sent to the Scots College, Valladolid, in August, 1875. He received the Tonsure and Minor Orders on the 19th, and the Subdiaconate on the 20th, November, 1881, from Mgr. Serra, Bishop of Daulia, in the College Chapel; and was ordained Deacon on the 4th, and Priest on the 25th, March, 1882, by Mgr. Lozano y Terreira, Bishop of Palencia, in the Chapel of his Episcopal Palace. He returned to Scotland in April last, and was at once appointed assistant Priest at Birnie Knowe.
