James Chisholm

(Diocese of Argyll and the Isles) Born in Strathglass, 11th July 1854, the son of Finlay Chisholm and Mary McRae; received subdiaconate from Bp. Serra of Daulia (Perth, Australia) in college church, 20th November 1881; ordained a priest, bishop’s private chapel, Palencia, 25th March 1882, and left for Scotland, 9th April 1882; a canon of the Argyll and the Isles chapter; returned to Morar and died there, 30th May 1948. Report of the ordination of James Chisholm in the Scottish Catholic Directory of 1883.

The Rev. James Chisholm was born in Strathglass on 11th July, 1854; entered Blairs College on 13th September, 1870; and was sent to the Scots College, Valladolid, in August, 1875. He received the Tonsure and Minor Orders on the 19th, and the Subdiaconate on the 20th, November, 1881, from Mgr. Serra, Bishop of Daulia, in the College Chapel; and was ordained Deacon on the 4th, and Priest on the 25th, March, 1882, by Mgr. Lozano y Terreira, Bishop of Palencia, in the Chapel of his Episcopal Palace. He returned to Scotland in April, served for some time in Moidart, and was then appointed assistant Priest in Barra.
