Allan McDonald
(Diocese of Argyll and the Isles) Born at Fort William, 25th October 1859, the son of John McDonald and Margaret McPherson; left for Scotland, 24th March 1882, and ordained a priest by Archbishop Eyre in Glasgow, 9th July 1882; Gaelic scholar, writer and collector; died in Eriskay, 8th October 1905. The Rev. Allan McDonald was born at Fort-William on 25th October, 1859; entered Blairs College on 15th August, 1871; and passed to the Scots College, Valladolid, in September, 1876. He received the Tonsure and Minor Orders on the 19th, and the Subdiaconate on the 20th, November, 1881, from Mgr. Serra, Bishop of Daulia, in the College Chapel; and was ordained Deacon on the 4th March, 1882, by Mgr. Lozano y Terreira, Bishop of Palencia, in the Chapel of his Episcopal Palace; was ordained Priest by Archbishop Eyre in the Pro-Cathedral, Glasgow, on 9th July, 1882; and was stationed at Oban.
