George Ritchie
(Archdiocese of Glasgow) Born in Huntly, 31st December 1859, the son of Alexander Ritchie and Margaret Morrison; left for Scotland, 24th March 1882, and ordained a priest by Archbishop Eyre in Glasgow, 9th July 1882; canon of the Glasgow chapter and domestic prelate; secretary of the San Ambrosio Society and college agent in Scotland until 1918; died in Glasgow, 16th August 1923. Report of the ordination of George Ritchie in the Scottish Catholic Directory of 1883.
The Rev. George Ritchie was born at Huntly on 31st December, 1859; entered Blairs College on 31st July, 1871; and passed to Valladolid in September, 1876. He received the Tonsure and Minor Orders on the 19th, and the Subdiaconate on the 20th, November, 1881, from Mgr. Serra, Bishop of Daulia, in the College Chapel; and was ordained Deacon on the 4th March, 1882, by Mgr. Lozano y Terreira, Bishop of Palencia, in the Chapel of his Episcopal Palace; was ordained Priest by Archbishop Eyre in the Pro-Cathedral, Glasgow, on 9th July, 1882, and was appointed in July assistant Priest at Port-Glasgow.
