David McDonald
(Diocese of Aberdeen) Born in Glenmoriston, 16th March 1858, the son of Duncan McDonald and Elizabeth McDonell; was at Blairs (1870), Benedictine College, Douai (1875), Issy (1877) and St.-Sulpice (1879), before arriving in Valladolid; received subdiaconate from Bishop Serra of Daulia (Perth, Australia) in college church, 20th November 1881; ordained a priest, bishop’s private chapel, Palencia, 25th March 1882, and left for Scotland, 11th April 1882; canon of the Aberdeen chapter; died in Stonehaven, 27th September 1930. Report of the ordination of David McDonald in the Scottish Catholic Directory of 1883.
The Rev. David McDonald was born in Glenmoriston on 16th March, 1858; entered Blairs College on 3rd August, 1870; was sent in September, 1875, to St. Edmund’s, Douay, and two years later to the Sulpician Seminary at Issy. In 1879 he entered the Theological Seminary in Paris, where he received the Tonsure. He passed to the Scots College, Valladolid, in December, 1880. He received the Subdiaconate on the 20th, November, 1881, from Mgr. Serra, Bishop of Daulia, in the College Chapel; and was ordained Deacon on the 4th, and Priest on the 25th, March, 1882, by Mgr. Lozano y Terreira, Bishop of Palencia, in the Chapel of his Episcopal Palace. He returned to Scotland in April last, and was appointed to the Mission of Inverurie.
