Michael MacManus

(Diocese of Dunkeld) Born in Dundee, 8th April 1859, the son of William MacManus and Mary Collins; was at Blairs (1872), Benedictine College, Douai (1877), Issy (1878) and St.-Sulpice (1880), before arriving in Valladolid; received subdiaconate from Bishop Serra of Daulia (Perth, Australia) in college chapel, 20th November 1881; ordained a priest, Valladolid, 20th August 1882, and left for Scotland, 23rd August 1882; assistant priest at Blairgowrie until 1886. Report of the ordination of Michael McManus in the Scottish Catholic Directory of 1883.

The Rev. Michael J. McManus was born in Dundee on 8th April, 1859; entered Blairs College on 2nd September, 1872; passed to Douay in September, 1877, to Issy in October, 1878, and to the Seminary in Paris in October, 1880. Shortly afterwards he had to return home owing to bad health. On his recovery he was admitted, at Easter, 1881, to the Scots College, Valladolid. He received the Tonsure and Minor Orders on the 19th, and the Subdiaconate on the 20th, November, 1881, from Mgr. Serra, Bishop of Daulia, in the College Chapel; and was ordained Deacon on the 4th March, 1882, by Mgr. Lozano y Terreira, Bishop of Palencia, in the Chapel of his Episcopal Palace. He was ordained Priest by Mgr. Sanz y Forte, Archbishop of Valladolid, on 20th August, 1882. On his return to Scotland he was stationed at Blairgowrie as assistant Priest.
