Joseph McHardy
(Diocese of Galloway) Born in Aboyne, 9/19th January 1874, the son of William McHardy and Eliza Thomson; left for Scotland, 17th April 1899, appointed to Blairs teaching staff and ordained a priest there by Bishop Chisholm, 11th May 1899; military chaplain in first world war, awarded Military Cross; parish priest, St. Margaret’s, Ayr, 1932-66; canon of the Galloway chapter, vicar capitular, vicar general, protonotary apostolic; died in Ayr, 10th June 1966.
