Donald McKay
(Western District and Diocese of Argyll and the Isles) Born in South Uist, 19th/22nd April 1842, the son of John McKay and Catherine McLellan; left for Scotland, 26th July 1870, and ordained a priest by Archbishop Eyre in St. Andrew’s, Glasgow, 13th August 1870; at Drimnin, Argyllshire, until 1887; “apostatised, took unto himself a woman” (original register).

The Rev. Donald Mackay was born on the island of South Uist, on the 22d April 1842, and entered Blairs College in July 1860. Having there finished his classes, he was sent in September 1865 to the Scots College of Valladolid. On completing his course there he returned to Scotland, and was ordained priest on the 13th August 1870 by the Most Rev. Archbishop Eyre, in St Andrew’s Cathedral, Glasgow, and appointed assistant at Ardkenneth, South Uist.
