James Monaghan
(Archdiocese of St. Andrews and Edinburgh) Born in Bathgate, 11th July 1914, the son of Edward Monaghan and Elizabeth Reilly; left in ill health, 5th June 1936, went to St. Kieran’s College, Kilkenny, and ordained a priest by Archbishop McDonald O.S.B., Cathedral, Edinburgh, 11th June 1940; became vicar general, St. Andrews and Edinburgh, 1959; nominated titular Bishop of Cell Ausaille and auxiliary in St. Andrews and Edinbugh, 27th April 1970; consecrated by Cardinal Gray in Edinburgh, 23rd May 1970.
